A People's History of the United States is a 1980 genuine book by an American student of history and political researcher Howard Zinn. In the book, Zinn displayed what he viewed as an alternate side of history from the more customary "major patriot glorification of the nation". Zinn depicts a side of American history that can to a great extent be viewed as the abuse and control of the larger part by fixed frameworks that enormously support a little total of world-class rulers from over the universal ideological groups.

The study of history is important because it allows one to make more sense of the current world. ... More broadly, history enables us to understand different cultures. If those are not good reasons for studying history, one can study history because it allows one to exercise their critical thinking skills.
